Melissa "Missy" Smith

It is with the deepest sense of loss that we announce Melissa Anne Smith (nee McKinnon) left this world on Friday, December 2, 2022, at the age of 36 with her family by her side, always.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Randy Smith, her son Wyatt, mother Charlene McKinnon (nee Hass), her brother Michael McKinnon and sister-in-law Rachelle (nee Martin). Predeceased by her father, and best friend, Terry J. McKinnon.

She is also mourned by her father-in-law Dr. Kevin Smith, mother-in-law Kathy Smith, brother in laws and sister in laws, Victoria and Isaac Burns, Trevor and Destiny, and Greg Smith.  Also, by her nieces and nephews, Zachary, Katherine, Elliot, Hazel and Harper.

Melissa leaves behind many aunts and uncles, cousins, and so many friends that she loved and cherished.

Melissa had a zest for life and always brought out the best smiles for everyone with her wit and sense of humor.  She fought the hardest battle with cancer and showed what it was to have strength, courage, grace, and do it all while still looking after her family and friends.

Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.) on Thursday, December 8th, 2022, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 9th, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 44 Rothesay Drive, Ottawa.  Reception to follow.  Interment will be held at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Renfrew, Ontario.

In lieu of flowers donations in Melissa’s memory may be made to the Catholic Education Foundation of Ontario .
