Christopher James Wong (aka DJ Wonger) passed away peacefully in hospital at the tender age of 53 on Saturday, March 25, 2023, after a short battle with cancer. In his last breaths he was surrounded by family and a few close friends, whom he held very dear to his heart. Beloved husband of Christa Ross. Honoured stepfather of Jackson McDonald. Loving son of James and Joan Wong. Cherished brother of Suzanne D'Eon and brother-in-law Michael D'Eon. Proud uncle of Jacoby, Gavin and MaKenna. Fondly remembered by his parents in law Diane and Larry Ross, extended family and a huge number of friends who remember him so very dearly.
Chris was the kindest person and had the most beautiful soul. Some words used to describe him in the messages received were a cherished and loyal friend, an exemplary and outstanding person who had an impact on all who were lucky enough to know him.
He had a passion for love, music, golf, hockey pools, eggrolls, wontons, feeding people, and Ted Lasso. He loved dearly his late dog Saydee. He is cuddling with her right now. He also left behind and is missed so much by our cats, Cooper and Squishy, who turned him very quickly into a cat person.
In his last weeks, when we learned of his diagnosis and tried to remain hopeful and positive, his friends and family rallied around him. During that time, he made sure to tell all of you how much he loved and appreciated you. I fell in love with him all over again in those last weeks. He was one-of-a-kind, and if you knew him, loved him, and got to listen to his stories, you are one very lucky person.
For all that loved him, to our family and our friends, I am so sorry that you have lost him. He was one of the good ones. He lived his life with the motto, "don't sweat the small stuff". Embrace everyone you love today and be thankful for the small things in life. They are absolutely what matter the most!
A celebration of Chris's life will take place on his birthday weekend, Sunday, April 30th at The Crazy Horse Bar from 3pm to 7pm. It will be filled with music, elaborate lighting, stories and lots and lots of love. Look for details of the event to be posted on Facebook.
For those wishing, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Canadian Cancer Society in honour and memory of Chris Wong.
