Bill passed away peacefully with loving family at his side in hospital on Friday, September 4, 2020 at the age of 80 years. Cherished partner of Sue Fleming (and the late Carole, d. 1987). Loving father of Christopher and daughter-in-law, Sophie. Proud and adoring Grandad of Aiva and Charlie. Dear uncle of Linda (Peter) Minelli and Jeff Alexander and great uncle to Alexander and Adam. Remembered fondly by the Deschenes, Fleming and McAllum families. Bill is predeceased by his sisters, Opal and Joan, and nephew Mark. Bill had a distinguished career as a Math teacher at Merivale HS and Department Head at Gloucester HS and Cairine Wilson SS. He was a dedicated hockey coach who took great pride in his students' accomplishments in and out of the classroom. He derived happiness and fulfilment from teaching mathematics, enriching students’ lives, and working with colleagues. In retirement Bill and Sue experienced many wonderful adventures abroad including ocean and river cruises. Winters were spent relaxing and golfing in New Smyrna Beach and the Florida Keys. The happy times with their cherished grandchildren have provided special memories. Bill’s warm smile will be missed by family and friends. We would like to express our deep appreciation to the staff of ACE Unit at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, they are definitely a Dream Team.
