It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bill Ringer on Friday, May 31, 2024, peacefully at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital in his 95th year.
Bill was an avid athlete who devoted his early years to Ice Hockey. Bill was recruited into the Nottingham Panthers in the British Ice Hockey League in 1950 and would play six seasons with the Panthers. He also coached for the Swiss Ice Hockey League for two years from 1956 to 1958.
Bill married a Nottingham native, Gloria Dickens in 1951. In 1959 Bill returned to Canada with his family, settling in Toronto where Bill worked in the Construction Industry. His job would eventually take the family to Ottawa.
Bill and Gloria loved travel and met and maintained numerous long-lasting friendships from their many adventures.
Thank you to the Queensway-Carleton Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit team for their help, kindness and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queensway-Carleton Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice is appreciated.
