BLUE, Wayne Gordon peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a battle with ALS - relentlessly fought with humour and without complaint on June 27, 2018.
He leaves behind his childhood sweetheart and life partner of 36 years Katherine, children Lindsay (Bill Campbell) Graham and Amanda (Victor) Bouchard and sister Susan Blue. Also survived by joy-giving grandchildren Scarlet Bouchard and Winsor Blue. Lovingly remembered by nephew and nieces Brian Ward (Courtney Donaldson), Tammy (Nigel) Leslie, Tracy (Matt) Mattice, great nephew Owen Leslie and great nieces Kayla Leslie, Brooke and Ella Ward. Fondly remembered by first cousins near and far - always close at heart.
Wayne's working life was as a master carpenter, first for his father before starting off on his own in ‘84 in the custom home industry then later transitioning into commercial General Contracting. When son Graham joined the family business full time after graduation, they added to their services by establishing a custom millwork shop for both commercial and residential. Wayne prided himself on being the contractor that would do a high-quality job - right, on time and on budget and took great pleasure on getting to know his clients personally and servicing to 100% satisfaction. There was never a challenge he wouldn't take on.
Wayne was such a hard worker there was very little down-time, but it was always spent with family. A couple of weeks vacation at the cottage with kids creating a ‘ski boat' from our aluminum fishing boat; a boat launch made from re-purposed guardrails; a floating trampoline created from plastic 50 gal barrels strapped to the frame all drew many S-L-O-W boat spectator passes. Family skidoo trips north with our ‘race team' (matching) suits. Fishing trips with Graham and the famous motocross race weekends away. For Wayne, family was ALWAYS #1!
With heartfelt thanks to all who shared in Wayne's care through medical, treatments, nourishment, visits, cards, a shoulder and prayer- you know who you are - we couldn't have done it without your loving support!
A celebration of life to take place Thursday, July 5, 2018 @3-8PM in ‘Wayne's World' 5 Wild Acre Lane, Kanata, ON. K2W 0K2
In lieu of flowers a donation to the ALS Society of Canada would be appreciated. Let us all take a page from Wayne's book and take on his relentless battle with ALS.
