Virginia Blondin

June 25, 1946 — November 27, 2021

Virginia Blondin (nee Roshka)

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Virginia Blondin on Saturday Nov 27th in her home.   Left to cherish her memory are her son Mathew Blondin (Julie), her grandsons Joshua and Joey Blondin, their mother Michelle Peckford, her cousin Connie Clarke (Rick), cousins Jillian (Mike), Carley (Kris), Jessica (Mike) and Jamie (Sydney) and last but certainly not least, her other beloved son Jake the dog.  Virginia was predeceased by her Mother Josephine Roshka and her Uncle Stanley Sass.

Through her long career her two most treasured positions were that of a teacher and social worker. In her retirement she was a heavily involved member of the community at Constance Bay, and as a board member of the Legion and the Community Center. She enjoyed interacting with the community and was a tireless volunteer.  She made so many valuable friendships over the last 11 years in “The Bay”.

A huge lover of dogs, Virginia took care of many such animals throughout her life including Sunni and Jacob. She was so interested in dogs. On walks or at Dog parks with Jake, she would know all the names of the dogs they met, maybe not the owners names but she knew the dogs names.

Virginia loved the outdoors, and especially loved travelling and road trips. Every winter she took weeks long trips down to Florida, always making sure to bring her dog along with her. She spent hours planning her route and hotels – dog friendly of course and always said the journey there is the best part of the vacation.  She enjoyed adventures from 4 wheel rugged trails with a Nissan Pathfinder, or visiting a historic sites and forts in Canada and the US, to riding the rails in Manitoba to go whale watching in Churchill she was always eager to see new sights and engage in her passion for history and of course shopping. She had an interest in exploring the world of scotch and enjoyed partaking in scotch tastings, always wanting to experience something new, tracking those she enjoyed and those not so much.

Virginia lived a love filled life surrounded by friends, family and dogs. She will be deeply missed by anyone who has had the pleasure of crossing paths with her.

A celebration of life will be held at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 616 in Constance Bay on Thursday, December 9th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm.
