Grainger, Timothy Andrew

1954 - 2018

Timothy (Tim, Timmy) Andrew Grainger of Ottawa, Ontario passed away suddenly on August 25, in Ottawa, at the age of 63. Tim was born in Kingston upon Hull, England, to Gordon and Ida (née Nightingale) Grainger on September 30, 1954. While a student at Bradford University, he met and soon after married Prem(lata) Patel in 1976. The family lived in Zambia for two and a half years before immigrating to Canada in 1982, eventually settling in Guelph. Tim and Prem owned and operated Prescription Place pharmacy in Guelph from 1989 to 2003 and moved to Ottawa in 2009, where Tim continued to work as a pharmacist until his retirement in 2017. Tim was a very kind and generous person who was always willing to lend a hand. He was a dedicated pharmacist with a true interest in health and helping others. Tim loved reading, music, tinkering with stereo equipment, jokes and the sea. He had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed travelling. He loved Indian culture and, in recent years, developed a particular interest in visiting South Asia. Above all, Tim loved spending time with family. Tim is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Prem, children Raj(esh) and Su(san), their spouses Melissa and Alex, grandchildren Asher, Darshan, Thea and Avi, older siblings Tony, Susan and Paul, and a large extended family. A celebration of life will be held on September 8 at 11 a.m. at the National Arts Centre at 1 Elgin Street in Ottawa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ottawa Food Bank, Plan International (Canada) and the Canadian Cancer Society.
