McCarthy – Thomas Daniel
It is with extreme sadness and heart break, that the family of Thomas Daniel McCarthy announces that in the early morning of Monday, June 7th, Tommy received his wings to life beyond. After an extremely hard-fought battle with acute myeloid leukemia, Tommy passed peacefully in the presence of his wife Barb and two of his sisters MaryAnn and Janie. His daughter Jaimie was able to visit and express her love and goodbyes earlier in the day. Tommy was predeceased by his parents Newman and Ann McCarthy.
Tommy was a loving and devoted husband to Barb (née Shipman); and cherished father to Jaimie (Rick Todd), Matthew and Danny (Shannon). Loving grandfather to Seamus Daniel, Arthur Thomas, and Anna Lois. Loving stepdad to Barb's children Christina Mash (Warren Libbey) and Tommy Mash. He will be missed by his little dog and co-pilot "Corky" who was by his side most of the time. Tommy was the youngest of five children and will be dearly missed by his big sisters, MaryAnn (Jack Scollan), Janie (late Robert Ralph), Nora (late Richard Naysmith) and Theresa. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends are also mourning his passing.
Tommy was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, antiques, and country music. He was always there and would do anything for the people he cared about. He was well known for cooking up big meals for family gatherings, with enough food to feed an army.
He was very proud of each of his children, loved them dearly and embraced their accomplishments. He had many fantastic adventures with his wife Barb, travelling in their motor home to music festivals and antique tractor shows. Together they enjoyed the Rocky Mountaineer, Alaska, Ireland, Nashville, and other fun destinations.
His legacy, kindness and generosity will not be forgotten, and those memories will help keep us stitched together during this difficult time.
At Tommy's request there will be no service. In the future we will reminisce with family and friends to celebrate Tommy's life amid music and cheer. Donations in Tommy's name may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Rest in peace now, the pain has ended, and you are free to guide us from above.
