The Gormandy

The Reverend Lionel Courtney Gormandy
March 19, 1918 - April 19, 2014

Father passed peacefully into his heavenly Father's arms on April 19th, 2014. Father was an Anglican priest for over 66 years. He was priested in Guyana in 1947 and served the dioceses of Guyana, Barbados, Trinidad, Montreal and Ottawa. He was the son of the late Victor Gormandy and the late Lone Gibbons, his wife. Beloved husband and BFF of Sylvia Pow for 79 years, and the late Ethelene Hansraj. Brother of the late Wilbert, Keith and Lucille Gormandy. Beloved father of Dorothy Cush and the late Mayleen Baxter-Dennis. Stepfather of Hazel and the late Joy and Francis Gourville. He will be lovingly remembered by his nephew Dr. Winston (Marguerite) Gormandy. Grandfather of Akbar (Adilah) Cush and Randolph (Theresa) Baxter-Dennis. Great-grandfather Maryam, Harun & Sumaiyah Cush and Chloe Baxter-Dennis. A celebration of Fr. Lionel's life will take place at the Church of St. Barnabas, Apostle and Martyr, 70 James Street on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the funeral.
