It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sheila (Shelley) Brazeau on Wednesday, January 29th, at the age of 75, surrounded by the love of her devoted husband, children, and grandchildren.
Shelley was predeceased by her beloved parents, Margaret and Laurent (Larry) Champagne, her sister Rebecca Séguin (Bob), and her sweet daughter, Amelia. She was the cherished wife of Maurice Brazeau for 51 years — a partnership built on love, strength, and unwavering commitment.
Shelley will be so dearly missed by her children, Emily Brazeau (Scott Cooper), Mathieu Brazeau (Jason Hanson), and Daniel Brazeau (Melissa). Her heart and soul revolved around her seven grandchildren: Noah, Jonah, Brontë, and Xavier Cooper, and Eleyna, Vera, and Santana Brazeau. Shelley’s legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in their hearts forever.
She leaves behind her beloved siblings, Laurie Champagne (Patrick Mates), Paul and Stephanie Champagne, Susan Wallace, and Peter and Maria Champagne The bond they shared was one of love, laughter, and unwavering support, and they will miss her deeply. Shelley will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart. The family would also like to acknowledge the wonderful friendships Shelley formed over the years, both with neighbors and through her work as an X-ray technician. These friendships were a source of joy and strength.
Shelley’s life was forever changed when she was diagnosed with dementia nine years ago. Despite the challenges she faced, she remained a beacon of strength, courage, and grace. Her journey was long and at times difficult, but she never lost her gentle nature or her sweet smile — a gift to all who knew her. The greatest comfort, however, is knowing that Shelley is no longer suffering and is now with her sweet Amelia.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the exceptional caregivers at Hillel Lodge, whose kindness and dedication ensured Shelley’s comfort and happiness during her time there. The staff held us up during our hardest days, and your care and love will never be forgotten.
We invite all who knew and loved Shelley to join us in celebrating her life and the many beautiful memories she leaves behind on Friday, February 7th, 2025 at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow. For those who wish, donations may be made to The Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation.
Shelley’s legacy of love, kindness, and resilience will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by love, as she was in life.
