It is with deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Shannon Lyn Robinson. Shannon passed away peacefully and in the company of loved ones at the Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Monday, October 9th at 1:25 a.m.
Born in St. Paul, Alberta on April 20th, 1983, Shannon lived life to the fullest in her 34 years. She always held dear her childhood memories of the Robinson family farm, and made a point to revisit there frequently throughout her life. A proud Franco-Albertan and keenly intelligent from a young age, bilingualism and education played an important part in Shannon's life. She excelled at her French language elementary and high school in St. Paul, before completing a B.A. at the University of Alberta, an LL.B. at the University of Ottawa, and an LL.M. at the University of Cambridge. A skilled labour and employment lawyer, Shannon held a variety of prominent positions in a promising career in Ottawa.
Shannon loved to travel, enjoy good food and drink, and experience different cultures. There was rarely a year that would go by without her planning a trip to a new and exciting destination. Anyone who knew her knows how exceptional she was with people.
Shannon leaves her partner, Max Watson; mother, Gisèle Robinson; brothers, Shaun (Coral) and Matthew (Sabrina) Robinson; nieces Sierra and Rose Robinson; nephews Wyatt, James, and Clayton Robinson; parents-in-law John and Rosanna Watson; brother-in-law Slater Watson; grandparents, whose farm Shannon so loved to revisit, Patrice and Denise Robinson; and many other loving family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cancer Centre of the Ottawa Hospital General Campus or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
Visitation for family and friends in Ottawa will precede Shannon’s return to St. Paul for a private family gathering by the creek at her family’s farm.
Visitation: Thursday, October 19 from 7-9 p.m. at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa.
