Sandra Rigby

With sadness, we share the news of Sandy Rigby's unexpected passing.  Peacefully, at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Sandy was surrounded by love.  Devoted wife to her late husband Paul.  As a proud mother she leaves behind Alan (Jennifer) and Emily (Michael).   As a loving Gran she will be missed by Ellise, Annika, William, Sarah and Isabelle.  As a cherished sister she leaves behind David (Gwen) and Marilee (Noel).  Her family and friends near and far will miss Sandy and the joyful colour she brought to all our lives.

Sandy loved without compromise, laughed from deep in her soul, and her generous spirit always had room in her home for one more.  Sandy was special to us all, and brought a zest to our lives, one that is impossible to capture with words.  We encourage you to share your stories, and as you do, hear her laugh and feel her boundless love.

Sandy volunteered her time with the United Way for many years.  In lieu of flowers we kindly request donations be made to the United Way in her honour.

“And now faith, hope, and love abide these three…..and the greatest of these is love”

Sandy knew how to love.  Of the many gifts she gave the world, the lasting legacy she leaves is one of loving with wild abandon.  At times her passionate ways created some complexities but Sandy’s heart was one that yearned to love and be loved.  She was blessed with a spirit that was unstoppable.  When faced with unexpected twists and turns in her life’s journey, taking her to places none of us wanted to go, Sandy’s faith, hope and love saw her through.  So too, was she supported by the caring presence of God who was with her each and every moment of her life, who surrounded her with care in her dying, and who has already welcomed her home with loving arms.  While we miss her dearly, we trust that she has now found a peace, a stillness, a contentment that was at times illusive to her.  We entrust her to God’s embrace knowing that she is now with her beloved Paul, and that she will be ever present with all of us who miss her dearly and who will seek to carry on her legacy.  The faith that sustained Sandy, the faith that sustains many of us, is one that promises nothing of Love is ever lost through death.  This is not goodbye, only goodnight.  The ending of one chapter in the ongoing story of a life so unbelievable that those of us privileged enough to share it with her were forever changed by it.

Go upon your journey Sandy knowing that you are loved beyond measure and will be missed beyond words.  May your place today be found in peace, and may your dwelling be forever within the heart of God.
