It is with profound sadness that the family of Sandra M Fraser announces her passing on Wednesday, August 17th, 2022  at the May Court Hospice in Ottawa due to the ravages of cancer.

Sandra was born by parents Lester Taylor and his wife, Velma Mooney in Hawkesbury, Ontario at the height of the hay season. The industry of the time was a consistent theme throughout her life.  She is survived by her loving husband, Gordon M Fraser and their children Nigel of Vancouver, BC. and Fairlie (Scott Frizzell) and their grandchildren Farrah and Felix all of Whistler, BC.  Also left to mourn her passing is her younger brother, Robert, his with wife Elaine as well as Gordon’s brothers Malcolm (Jean), David (late Ruth), late Neil (Sylvia), Alastair and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Sandra had a 33-year career teaching Family Studies and Biology at Woodroffe, Brookfield, and Ridgemont High Schools before becoming a teacher-librarian at Laurentian and eventually Hillcrest High Schools. Along the way she completed a Master degree in Library and Information Science and after retiring from teaching, she spent a further sixteen years working casual shifts at Ottawa Public Library branches.

Sandra and Gordon were founding members of their dinner club that has operated for over forty-five years. There was nothing that Sandra liked more than entertaining family and friends to a dinner at her home. They also traveled extensively including Africa, South America and Europe. Sandra loved to read and enjoyed her two book-clubs as well as bi-weekly golf games with her buddies.

The family would like to thank the Ottawa Hospital, May Court Hospice, and all the nursing staff for providing superb care over her cancer journey.
