Sadie Flynn

d. December 31, 2017

Moule, Sadie Victoria (nee Flynn)

1925 – 2017

Sadie passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017, surrounded by the love of her family and many friends. Sadie is survived by her devoted husband John (aka Ted), daughters Sheila and Valerie (Peter), and her beloved grandchildren Matt, Dan (Jill), Stephen (Diane) and Andrea (Andrew). She took great joy in the visits and adventures of her four great-grandchildren Jamie, Grace, Seth and Charlie. She will also be missed by dear family friend Leanne Shea and family, and Marc Lanthier.

Sadie was the cherished aunt to nieces and nephews across Canada, the U.S. and Wales. Known lovingly as Granny to many, she always had children around her. Sadie was committed to her family and friends and was there for those who were in need. She was quick to lend a helping hand, or regale with a story of old.

She was predeceased by her parents Earl Flynn and Ruby Pearson of Thurso, Quebec and brothers Morris (late Janet), Albert (late Jean), Dennis (Tina) and Roy (Pauline). Sadie is survived by her three sisters Eileen (late Bob), Shirley, Ruby (Denis), and four brothers Elwood (Gladys), Dale (Carole), Chet (Ruth) and Errol (Elizabeth).

Before enlisting in the military to serve in Canada during World War II, Sadie worked as a hostess at the YMCA in Montreal. She then took pride in her work at the Carousel Restaurant in Ottawa. Later in life, she was an active member of the St. Paul’s Anglican Church community and maintained contact with her church family at her childhood church in the Gore, Thurso, Quebec. Her baked beans, Welsh Cakes, fruit cakes, Christmas cookies, and pies were a welcome treat at many church functions. Sadie was happiest when she was in her garden or in the kitchen pickling beets or baking, much of which was delivered to family, friends and neighbours. Since the garden was Sadie's favourite place, please consider planting a perennial in your garden in her memory.

The family wishes to express our gratitude to the many individuals who gave their care and support to Sadie, with special mention to: the staff at Granite Ridge Care Home, St. Paul’s church community, Dr. J. Saini, Dr. M. Pratt and Dr. A. Bhargava. Visitation on Friday, January 5 at Tubman Funeral Home, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean from 1 to 3 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service on Saturday, January 6 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 20 Young Road, Kanata at 11 a.m. A reception at the church will follow the service.

Donations in her memory can be made to Father Rick's Schoolbox: http://schoolbox.ca/fatherrickschool .
