Passed away peacefully at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice in Kanata on March 25, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 66. A private, family only gathering was held at Tubman Funeral Homes Westboro Chapel on March 27, 2018. Ruth was born on March 23, 1952 in Ottawa, to Richard and Dorothy Perley. After graduating from Algonquin College in Journalism, she spent the next two decades working and traveling abroad with her then husband, Paul Fortin Sr., whom she visited dozens of different countries with. Ruth was a lovely, peaceful soul who enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and animals. She was especially fond of spending her summers at the family cottage on Big Rideau Lake. Those who knew Ruth knew of her kindness and her desire to always help those in need. Ruth was selfless and consistently put others' needs in front of her own. She made an everlasting impact on countless lives and will be missed dearly by those who knew her. Ruth is survived by her sons Paul, Pip, and her daughter-in-law Angelie. She also leaves behind her brother Rick, sister-in-law Judy, her nieces Courtenay and Kelsey, and her grand-daughter, Monica.
