Hassenklover, Rudolf Hermann (Rudy)

Rudy succumbed on August 20 after a short and valiant fight.  He was in his 101st year and had the distinction of surviving the Spanish flu and COVID-19.  Loving husband of Clasina (deceased), devoted father of Wolf (Pam), Anne-Lise (Peter), Erica and Bob (Bernadett), he is survived by grandchildren Marianne, Stephen, Michael and David and great grandchildren, Jacob, and Tyler.  Rudy was born in Germany and as an aircraft technician, was part of a civilian team that assembled and tested the first jet aircraft in the world.  He and his wife emigrated to Canada with Wolf in 1950 where three more children followed.  He spent his career at Canadair in Montreal and as Jet Engine Inspector with the Public Service.  Upon retirement Rudy and Clasina moved to Apple Hill, Ontario and became hobby farmers.  Their parties on their lovely country property were always special events.  In later years they relocated to Ottawa to be close to family.  Rudy was a lifelong hiker and world traveller and continued his passions in retirement.  He always had a great smile and his photo was used in an advertisement brochure at his retirement home.  Many thanks to the caring staff at Garden Terrace for Rudy’s wonderful care during his last two years.  Condolences, tributes, and donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
