Ron Reynolds
August 21, 1930 – December 8, 2020
Ron Reynolds loved life. And he loved HIS life.
He was a gentle, unpretentious funny man who loved the outdoors. His leisure hours were spent golfing, gardening, lawn bowling or curling, or taking his children for epic walks on trails near his home or further afield. He was born in Saskatchewan but moved to Ottawa with his brand-new bride, Gwlady (nee Morgan), to take up a job as an engineer with the Department of National Defence. A lifetime later, he retired from the same employer. Ron and Gwladys moved from Ottawa to the village of Richmond in 1970, and quickly took the place into their hearts. He was an active and committed member of a number of community clubs over the years, including the Richmond Legion and the Richmond Curling Club. He was a member of the Richmond Golf Club and could frequently be found there with buddies Peter MacArthur and Ellard Chapleau. Most recently, Ron was a resident of the Bridlewood Trails retirement community, where he continued to enjoy a lively social life. Many thanks to the staff and management there for the loving care he received.
Ron is survived by his wife Gwladys, daughters Wendy, Rhonda (Terry Pretty) and Valerie (Peter Bews) and son Jeff (Jane Ven Der Buhs). He once said that being a grandfather was the best job he ever had, and he is lovingly remembered by Megan (Grant) and Andrea Pretty and Alex, Heather, Abbie and Nick Bews.
Enormous thanks to Dr. Charles, Dr. Murphy and the nursing teams at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital.
