FACETTE, Ronald "Ron"

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Mr. Ronald Facette, (born October 5, 1946) son of the late Wilfrid and Violet Facette, passed away on January 14, 2022, at the age of 75- proudly outliving his cancer prognosis by more than three years, despite, according to all evidence, having never voluntarily eaten a vegetable. Ron was a woodworker and handyman who loved canoeing, reading Thoreau, and spirited arguments about politics that only ended because dinner was ready. He always did exactly what he wanted, and though he long aspired to be a curmudgeon living alone in the bush, Ron's family was everything to him, and he was a fiercely devoted husband and father. He is survived by Annette, his wife of 40 years and his son Travis (Jenny Oatway). They loved him deeply, as did his late sister Gloria Payant and the sisters who survive him, Lil Lavergne and Lorraine (Rob Vien), his sisters-in-law Kathi (Lee Atkinson) Lise (Ken Morrison), and brother-in-law Daniel Berthiaume, along with all his cousins, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Hacker, the palliative care team, and the May Court Hospice for the care and kindness they offered Ron in his final days.

Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of Ron’s life at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Wednesday, July 20 from 1 to 3 p.m. with words of remembrance at 2 p.m.

In the meantime, Ron would enjoy it if you celebrated him by making something useful or beautiful for a loved one, or just fixing something for a neighbour.
