Blondeau - Master Corporal Ronald Bruce
Master Corporal Ronald Bruce BLONDEAU, born August 21, 1963, died suddenly April 13, 2016 in Cold Lake, Alberta. Ron had an exemplary career with the Canadian Armed Forces beginning October 1984, providing essential services to Canada and its people for 33 years. Beginning his career in the Navy, he completed a total of 650 days at sea serving on ships such as the HMCS Annapolis, and the HMCS Terra Nova. He then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force in a Flight Steward position on assignments with the Queen of England, Canada’s Prime Minister, and other dignitaries.
He was deployed on Operation Palladium to Bosnia in 2004 as part of the Operational Movements Section. He was attached posted to Joint Task Force Afghanistan Tactical Air Lift Unit in 2006-2007. In 2011 he was posted to Cold Lake, Alberta and attached to the 4 Wing Movement Section where he dealt with airlift operations around the movement of personnel, dangerous goods, and equipment. He finished his career working in the Material Distribution Centre of 4 Wing. During his career he received the General Service Medal Southwest Asia, Canadian Peacekeeping Service Medal, Special Service Medal-NATO, the Gulf and Kuwait Service Medal, and the Canadian Forces Decoration for Service 1st Class.
Beloved son of Doris and the late Bill. Survived by his brother James and sister Paula. Uncle of Julian, Saskia, and Sara. Ron will be fondly remembered by many friends and extended family members.
Church service will take place at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Dunrobin (Dunrobin Road at Thomas Dolan Parkway) on Friday, April 22, 2016 at 11:00 am. Reception in the church hall to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Anglican Church or the Military Family Fund.
