Romkje (Roma) Hylarides

Hylarides Attema, Roma passed away at Broadview Nursing Home in Smiths Falls on 29 November 2023 at the age of 95.  She was born in Ijlst, Frysland The Netherlands.  Survived by her daughters and their families, Jan MacBeth, Elsie Stresman (Lloyd), Ann Carroll (Mort Burchill), May Jenkins (Lindsay), June Hylarides, Jessie McConnell (David), Linda Amer (Rashad) and Cora Auclair (Al), twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews in The Netherlands.  Predeceased by her husband Frank (Feike) Hylarides, granddaughter Carrie Moulton and sons-in-law Saber Adam and Neilson Macbeth.

Roma immigrated to Canada from The Netherlands in 1948.  She has lived in Stittsville, Winchester and Ottawa.  Special thanks to the staff at Broadview Nursing Home in Smiths Falls for their kind and attentive care making her last days peaceful and filled with dignity.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa ON K2H 8H7 (beside the Queensway Carleton Hospital) on Wednesday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m.  Reception to follow.  Burial at Pinecrest Cemetery.
