Robert "Bob" Boucher

September 21, 1949 — August 27, 2020

Robert (Bob) Charles Boucher,

September 21, 1949 – August 27, 2020

With grace, dignity, and his sense of humor intact, Bob took his final bow and went backstage to join his parents John (Jack) Wesley Boucher and Helen Roberta (nee Gamble) Boucher. He leaves behind his loving wife Anne (nee McCabe) and her large extended McCabe family, and Bob’s younger siblings Barbara Dale (Harry) and Dan Boucher (Cindy). He was greatly admired by his nieces Emma-Leigh (Jared) and Jessica (Jamie), and his nephews Scott (Kristie), Robbie (Kayla) and Steven. Bob grew up in Ottawa and attended Fisher Park High School. While he enjoyed a long career with the Department of National Defence, his true passion was for music. He played the bass with many Ottawa bands, including The Culprits, Art Campbell & The Country Drifters, Censored, Willie & The Poor Boys, Melodia, Abacus, Shakin’ Eddie & The Jukes…and more than a few Italian wedding bands. He was so well-respected that even after retiring he was called back onstage for special engagements.  But what Bob and his wife Anne loved most in retirement was cruising. Their ports of call included Alaska, the Caribbean, South America, and all across Europe, including Scotland, Ireland, and elsewhere in the UK.  From big boats to small river cruises, there’s hardly a corner of the world they didn’t explore. Along the way, they enjoyed the company of their cruising companions, Candace and John. Bob inherited his great sense of humor from his legendary father, Jack; even in the darkest moments, they could both find a way to make you chuckle. So, in Bob’s memory, be sure to tell a few groaners and give someone a good laugh. He’ll be laughing along with you. The family would especially like to thank the angels at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice including Dr. Lisa Cross and Dr. Katerina Spacek. Donations in Bob’s memory to the Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice would be welcome by the family. Funeral arrangements are private, but please share your memories online by visiting www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
