Williams- Robert H.
We are very sorry to announce that Robert H Williams, Rob, passed away on July20th at The Civic Hospital in Ottawa. He had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for several years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Hazel Williams, his daughter Katie Williams, his son in law Neil MacIvor and their three beautiful children, Shepard 4 years, Cooper 2 years and Lucy 9 months. We feel saddened that his grandchildren won’t grow up knowing their funny, generous and mischievous grandfather.
Rob also leaves behind family and friends in the UK and Canada. He called his friends here our Canadian family.
Rob was born on January 24th 1946 in Trieste, Italy. His father Ronald, a soldier in the British army met his mother Maria Buble, a Croatian who was living in Italy at the end of the war. The family moved to North Wales when Rob was 2 years old. He grew up with his three younger siblings Michael, Katrina and Anthony in Mold N. Wales.
He emigrated to Toronto in 1968 and worked for the TDSB as an educator until he retired.
Rob had a passionate interest in Military history especially the Napoleonic Wars. He had a massive collection of books, paintings and research papers on the subject.
He truly was one of a kind, smart, witty and life of the party. He was always interested in talking to people and finding out about them. We called him the Questionaire man.
He never met a dessert that he didn’t like and never met a vegetable that he did!
If there was a silly hat, he was wearing it.
If there was a dog around, he was running across the street to pet it.
If there was a game being played, he was the one changing the rules.
If there was an adventure to be had, he was the one leading the way.
We are planning to have a Celebration of Life gathering in Toronto this Fall.
We all miss him terribly.
