Robert Henry Drinnan
January 4th, 1951 – June 27th, 2020
It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Robert Drinnan – a dear husband to Janine; a treasured father to Majda, Sam, Emma and Molly; a brother; an uncle; a friend; and affectionally known as “Grandpa Bear” to Molly’s Rottie, Bear. Rob passed away on June 27th at home, with family by his side. An outdoor private service was held on July 4th at Old St. Mary’s Church at Pinhey’s Point, where family and friends gathered to honour him - a special place where we all went “Down to the River to Pray”. Rob was a steadfast family-man. He was Janine’s constant – her best friend, her soul mate. He supported her in every way imaginable, embracing her passions both big and small. Rob was a loving and compassionate father. He created unique, special relationships with each of his children. He was always there - cheering us on, beaming with pride. Rob had a brilliant mind and an incredible work ethic. There wasn’t a topic that didn’t spark his curiosity, and if something was broken – he would always find a way to fix it. He truly was a “Jack of All Trades; Master of Most”. All those who knew him will miss his imagination, his witty sense of humour, the “Oufdah’s”, and of course, the suspenders. He put a great deal of thought, energy and creativity into everything he touched – be it at home, where he loved to help create incredible memories for all occasions, be it at work, where his analytical mind unraveled many a tangled web, or be it within the community, where he generously gave his time and talents. Professor, mentor, strategic IT analyst, business owner, graphic designer, artisan, chef – the list goes on. Rob is now at peace in God’s loving arms and we know that he will guide and support us each and every day. Until we meet again.

DONATIONs in LIEU of FLOWERS
If you are seeking to honour Rob, the family has asked that you:
EITHER
Consider a donation in his memory to one of many charities that were near and dear to Rob and Janine’s hearts: “Doctors Without Borders”
https://www.doctorswithoutborders.ca
OR
Consider assisting with the completion of the following vision that Rob and Janine were working together towards.
Rob's life revolved around his family, and his home was his sanctuary. Coupling this, with his imagination and zeal to create amazing things, he and Janine spent last year designing and laying the foundation for a backyard deck retreat. It was a place they envisioned spending lots of time as empty-nesters, as well as a place to gather with their family and dear friends. With the vision in place, Rob and Janine proceeded to work hard together to lay the base supporting structure and complete the deck frame – all completed before the start of winter.
Despite being halted for the season, work on the project continued and the remaining lumber and materials order was finalized and ready to go for when the good weather returned. However, during this time, other unexpected financial priorities arose, and this beloved family project had to be put on hold. The last remaining order needed to complete their dream is waiting to be placed; progress to date can be seen in the photo gallery on Tubman’s website.
Together, as a family, Janine, Majda, Sam, Emma and Molly, have decided they want to complete this project as a tribute to Rob and invite you to be a part of fulfilling his dream. If you would like to volunteer your time in some way, or give a small donation towards its completion, it would be very much appreciated. An account has been set up at TD that is dedicated to Rob’s vision and will be managed by a trusted family friend. Account information: Transit # 28316 Inst. # 004 Account # 6695814 and to let the family know if you’d like to volunteer, or for etransfers, please email: cara@orionconsulting.ca Truly, please know that no donation is too small - this is about bringing community together to be a part of fulfilling Rob’s dream. The family will be sure to send a photo of the completed deck upon completion. Please note: donation amounts will be kept private; and because this will be a gift to the family, tax receipts cannot be issued. In lieu of flowers, the family will be very appreciative of any contribution towards “Doctors without Borders” or towards the completion of Rob’s vision. On behalf of Janine, Majda, Sam, Emma and Molly – many thanks for all your support and thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
