Richard Fraser

May 17, 1946 — April 18, 2017

Richard Fraser passed away peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, after a brief illness, with his family by his side. Loving husband and best friend of Jean (Ashbaugh) for thirty-nine years. Loving father of Robert (Carolyn) and Laura (Matt McNeely). Proud Grandpa of Natalie, Hayley and Emily Fraser and proud Poppa of Amber, Allan and Ava McNeely. He is survived by his Mother, Marilyn Fraser (Late Carl) and his siblings, Barbara Fraser-Lee (Ed); Fern Fraser; John (Barb); Carolyn Hayman (Doug); and David (Patty). He will be dearly missed by many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to Dr. Iyengar, Dr. Alikhan and the nursing staff of the ICU at the Queensway Carleton Hospital for the compassionate care given to Richard and his family. Richard graduated from Kemptville Agriculture College in 1966 and was a life-long farmer in Nepean and Stittsville. Over the years he was very active in 4-H, Junior Farmers, Ottawa Carleton Milk Producers Committee, Ontario Federation of Agriculture, the Richmond Curling Club, and later wheelchair curling at the Kemptville Curling Club and the RA Centre in Ottawa; as well as fundraising for the Canadian Spinal Research Organization by hosting Victorian Teas. Friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital; the Canadian Spinal Research Organization; or Fallowfield United Church would be appreciated.
