Blackwell, R. Harold
1930-2022

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Harold Blackwell on May
4, 2022 in Ottawa in his 92nd year.  Beloved husband of Beatrice Blackwell
(Cuthbertson) for just short of 70 years, father of Stephen (Patti) and
David (Peggy), Grandad to Christopher (Jenn), Alanna Murphy (Brendan) and
Tyler (Jordie), great grandfather of Lauren and Mackenzie Murphy, and step
grandfather to Ryan and Brittany.  Born on Nov 18, 1930, raised in Montreal
and Saint-Eustache-sur-le-Lac QC, Harold was the son of the late Ronald Ira
and Irene Blackwell (Hardy) and brother to the late Myrna Gow.  To many
nieces and nephews, he was loved as Uncle Hal.  Harold spent his entire
career with Bell Canada, initially as a technician and retiring as a central
office manager.  Harold and Bea raised their family in Saint-Eustache QC,
taking annual family camping trips and engaged in their sons’ activities.
They moved to Ottawa in 1980, retiring a few years later and taking pride in
their home and health for some 40 years.  Harold had a passion for
woodworking and over the years participated in tennis, skiing, golf and
curling as well as being a boy scout leader. He will be greatly missed by
the family who loved him and by many friends.  Farewell Harold, Dad,
Grandad, Uncle Hal… job well done.  A private service was held May 10 at
Bells Corners United Church.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of your choice.
