With sadness we announce the passing of Ray Gibson Saunders on July 15, 2023 at the age of 74. Born and raised in Ottawa, Ray was the son of Ernest and Edna Saunders who predecease him, along with his granddaughter Mya. Ray is survived by his wife (Irene), son Shawn (Erin), daughter Kristin (George) and cherished grandchildren Aiden, James and Madison; his sisters Bonnie Poulton (late Joseph) and Karen Mulligan (Shawn) and nieces and nephews Erin, Ryan, Kevin, Megan, Morgan, and Melanie.

While his time on earth was cut short, Ray’s work ethic and ability to weave a wonderful story never wavered. He planned and enjoyed a final trip to see friends in Vancouver, a late fall hunting trip and many wonderful and cherished hours with family.

Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, from 11 a.m. until time of service in the chapel at 12 p.m. Interment at Capital Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the staff at the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital for their compassion and support, helping navigate the difficult journey during his final days.
