Fletcher Randy

Peacefully at home on Monday, January 11, 2021 in his 64th year. Beloved husband of Nancy (Morrison).  Dear father of Kaitlyn (Jordan) and Sarah (Duncan).  Loving grandfather of Hannah.  Brother of Dennis (Jennifer) and the late Deborah (Paul).  Brother-in-law of Jane (Dan, Michael, Taryn and the late Peter) and Mary (Bill).  Predeceased by his parents Jack and Doris.  He will be forever remembered by his family, friends, coworkers, and especially the curling community worldwide.

Randy was born and raised in Ottawa.  He attended Laurentian High School and was a City of Ottawa beach lifeguard, news editor at CKO, and a producer at CKOY where he met Nancy.  His next stop was Newsradio where he covered Parliament Hill.  He then moved on to work on the Hill for the Honourable Lyle Vanclief.  Randy finished his career at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada where he met so many life-long close friends.

Randy had the biggest heart.  Always ready to lend a helping hand.  He loved his family.  He loved to tell jokes and hear your laughter.  He loved to read.  He loved his phone.  He loved to drive below the speed limit, especially in a snow storm when you were late for your flight.  He absolutely loved licorice allsorts.  He loved to entertain and make curlers from around the world feel at home in our home.  During his later years, he discovered a passion for turning pens.  It was a gift of himself to all of us.

A very special thank you to Randy's incredible palliative team including Dr.Tania Zakhem and nurse Linda Tolstoy.  A private family ceremony will take place on Tuesday, January 19th.  A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date when the world allows.  Those wishing may make memorial donations to Friends of The Farm at www.friendsofthefarm.ca/donations.  Arrangements entrusted to the care of Tubman Funeral Homes, Kars Chapel. Tributes, condolences, or donations may also be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
