CONQUER, Philip Stanley

April 14, 1927 – November 1, 2022

Phil, aka Shirley’s best boyfriend, passed away at the age of 95.5 years young. Predeceased by Shirley (2020). Lovingly remembered and missed by daughter Carol (late Bill); son Dick (Wendy); grandchildren Graham (Cayley), Jennifer (Aaron), Amanda (Marco), Lisa (Adam); and great-grandchildren Preston, Sophia, Carter, Bentley, Gavin, Lincoln, Hendrix and Nixon and many special nieces and nephews.

Phil was educated in Ottawa and Winnipeg. An Officer in the Royal Canadian Naval Reserve from 1944 to 1950. He started his career at Ogilvy’s Department Store in 1946 and retired in 1986 as VP and GM.

Oh how he loved the Long Lake cottage and shared the space with many friends over the 40 years. He was a voracious reader, loved cross country skiing and spending time with family.

Phil generously shared his time and expertise – Warden of St. John the Evangelist Church; Chair/member of the BBB of Ottawa for 16 years; 27 years Director of CAA including 2 years as President; founding member and Chair of the Centrepointe Volunteer Company; Chair of The Anglican Book Society which operated Canterbury House Bookstore; Director of the Long Lake Association including 8 years as President; National President of the Federation of Canadian Advertising and Sales Clubs; Chair of the National Supply Services Committee for Scouts Canada for 8 years and another 10 years as a member; Chair of the Marketing Advisory Committee of Algonquin College and Vice Chair of the Management Advisory Committee; member of Civil Service Lodge #148 Ottawa for over 70 years, Senior Living Past Master and the Lodge Historian.

All are invited to join the family, Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 11:00am, for visitation, light refreshments, at Tubman Funeral Home 3440 Richmond Rd, Nepean ON, followed, at 12:30pm, by a Masonic service and Celebration of Life.

Interment to follow at 3:00pm Capital Memorial Gardens, Prince of Wales Drive, all welcome.
