Paul Bertrand

December 1, 1938 — August 1, 2021

Westboro Chapel

Paul Douglas Read Bertrand died peacefully on Sunday, August 1 with family by his side.  Beloved husband of Janice (nee Knowles), loving father of Natasha Bertrand and Melanie Bertrand (Leif Brynjolfson). Paul loved his grandchildren Katherine, Naomi, Cameron and Anna and visits with them. He will also be greatly missed by his sister, Marilyn (Mimi) Campbell (late Mike); his sisters-in-law Barb Boyd, Valerie McGirr (Ron), and Lisa Moore (Dale); his nieces and nephews, friends and neighbours.

Paul's church family faithfully held him in prayer. His day programme caregivers kept in touch all through COVID times.  Paul had a greatly fulfilling teaching career for over 30 years with the Ottawa Board of Education. He was active with many choirs, ski trips, and other extracurricular events. In retirement, Paul loved cooking for others both at home and at church, gardening (at the Experimental Farm, the church gardens and home), singing in the choir. He enjoyed many activities but was happiest engaging with people on a wide range of topics.

Thank you to the staff at Hillel Lodge who so wonderfully looked after him the past two months.

A funeral will be held on September 15th at 2 pm. at Christ Church Bells Corners.  Due to COVID restrictions, seating will be limited.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Affordable Housing Project in Bells Corners ( https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/29905 ) under Memorial Fund with a message or to Médecins Sans Frontières ( www.msf.org ) or charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
