Paul Joseph Phillip Belter

Paul passed away peacefully Dec 19, 2016 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by the love of his life, Maxine on Aug 21, 2016; they had been married 69 years. Paul, son the late Emil Belter and Mary Wagner, was born in 1923 in Mountain Park, Alta. His family lived in many places before ending up in Edmonton where he met Maxine. Joining the Navy in 1942, Paul served as a Chief Petty Officer until 1945 after which he spent a year in hospital recovering from injuries.
Paul and Maxine married in May 1947 then he headed off to the University of Manitoba to study Architecture. In the 1950's Paul and Maxine moved to Ottawa to start careers and family. Paul designed many schools and churches in the Ottawa area and was instrumental in major renovations at the Civic Hospital, including the Cancer Clinic, for over 20 years. Upon retirement Paul and Maxine headed to Port Charlotte Fla to spend their golden years. An avid sports fan Paul loved golfing, curling, gardening and animals. He was an adored father to his 4 daughters, Alexandra, Margot, Zoe and Stacey and grandfather and great grandfather to Bond, Leigh, Morgan, Emmy, Mark, Rebecca, Meaghen, Christian, Charlotte, Kaydence, Elyse, Mya, Liam, Abby, Violet and Quinn. Paul lived a long wonderful life; we will miss him forever.
