Olive Monica Weeden

November 15, 1924 - March 4, 2020

Olive Monica Weeden died peacefully on March 4, 2020.  Dear wife of the Late Arthur Weeden. Dearest mother of Martin(Helen), Trevor(France) and Diane(Les) McLaurin. Loving grandmother to Janet, Graham(Mandy), Laura, Eric (Natasha), Brad(Cassie) and Becky(Nick). Great-grandmother to Brady, Clark and Travis.

Olive was born in London England on November 15,1924 to Ivy and Charles Tytherleigh. Charles died when Olive was 7 and before her youngest sister, Barbara, was born. Ivy could not cope with a new baby and three other children, so Olive and her brother Roy were sent to a boarding school. Sheilia, the eldest, stayed at home to help and went out to work. Olive trained to be a secretary and worked in a London office until the building was bombed during WW2.

Olive and Arthur married in 1950. Olive started a successful retail business selling children's clothing and wool in Christchurch, England. The family moved to Canada in 1967 and settled in Deep River. Olive found employment at the local library. She was an avid reader of crime novels, a talented knitter that sold many knitted outfits locally and she loved tending to her vegetable garden. Olive and Arthur enjoyed travelling in the US and through Europe. They spent many winters in Florida and Myrtle Beach.

The family would like to thank the professional and dedicated staff at the Granite Ridge Long Term Care facility for six years of loving care. Olive was well liked by all of the staff. Please make any donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
