Peacefully at the Ottawa Hospital, Thomas Neil MacIntyre passed away after a lengthy illness. Beloved husband of 54 years to Audrey (Boyd). Cherished father of Kevin (Tracy) and Karen (Darrell Warren). Very proud and loving Poppa to grandchildren Morgan, Reid & Kelsey. Predeceased by parents Chloris (Macartney) and Thomas MacIntyre, and brothers Robert and Ronald. Brother to Barry Lieff (Barb). Neil was born and raised on a dairy farm in Ramsayville. He married Audrey in 1966 and together they built their family home and horse stable near Manotick. Neil graduated from Ottawa Technical High School and was employed with T.P. Crawford Ltd. for 43 years. He retired due to his health and received a kidney transplant in 2004. Neil’s lifelong passion was for horses and harness racing. He was an accomplished Standardbred owner, trainer and driver. Neil adored his grandchildren and rarely missed an opportunity to attend their activities. He will be remembered for his hard work, his sense of humour and the courage he demonstrated throughout his illness. A private graveside service will be held at Johnston’s Corners Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Ottawa Hospital Foundation, (The Kidney Research Centre), 737 Parkdale Avenue, 1st Floor, Box 610, Ottawa, ON K1Y 1J8 would be appreciated.
