Beloved elder son Neil Adair died in the Hospice at the Bruyère Hospital on Saturday 24th November 2018 at the age of 63. Born on September 16th, 1955 in Staffordshire, England to Rob (J.C.) Adair and Barbara Anne Thornton, both of Middlesex, England. Just before his first birthday, he and his 3-year-old sister were taken to live in Karachi, Pakistan, while his father was working for the Colombo Plan. After two years the family emigrated to Canada in February of 1959. Neil went to Pinecrest Public School, Sir John A. MacDonald High School, the Lahore American School and Carleton University. The family then returned to Pakistan in 1969 this time to Islamabad for another two years. Neil worked at the Canadian Conservation Institute then for Vickers Instruments. Windsurfing in the Dominican Republic caused him to move there and set up several businesses. Neil then returned to Ottawa 12 years later he became a webmaster and joined the Green Party. He ran for election both Provincially and Federally and made a respectable showing in the riding of Ottawa West Nepean. Neil was a scientist, athlete, avid cyclist, handy man and a political junkie. Predeceased by his father in 2003, he leaves his mother, his sister Susan Burton (Larry) of Minehead Somerset, UK and brother Colin (Julie) of Ottawa in mourning. Neil had relations in the UK, USA, and Australia and many friends around the world. There will be a Celebration of Neil's life on Sunday, December 9th, 2018 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Garden Chapel of the Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd (between Bayshore Drive and Baseline Rd). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Cancer Research or a charity of your choice.
