SAGE, Myrtle Geraldine (nee Mooney)
Suddenly on Thursday, April 24th 2014 at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, Myrtle Geraldine Sage, aged 86 years. Lifelong love and wife of Glen Henry Sage, Myrtle was born in Tisdale Saskatchewan, the daughter of Henry and Ethel Mooney. She was a graduate of Valparaiso School District 1092 and married Glen in 1946. Devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she supported Glen's Air Force career managing the household from Tisdale Saskatchewan, through moves to Vancouver, British Columbia; Clinton, Ontario; Dayton, Ohio; Los Angeles, California and Ottawa until Glen's retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1977. Myrtle also thrived in a career in retail sales at that time for more than a decade, engaging customers in west end Ottawa. Myrtle was an active curler, golfer and member of the Eastern Star of the Masonic Lodge, but most of all she was a shining, joyous spirit dearly loved by family and friends. Myrtle was predeceased by husband Glen (October 2000) and will be greatly missed by her children Carol, Larry (Iris), Cheryl (McBain)(John), grandchildren James, Evan (Caley Taylor), Graham, Bradley and Christine (McBain), great grandchildren Teya Taylor and Lochlann (Evan and Caley), and Aiden and Hannah (James) and nephew Ralph McCallum (Joan) of Vancouver. Myrtle was predeceased by siblings Eva, Opal, Verna, Muriel and Joyce. The family expresses its gratitude for the care provided to Myrtle at the Peter D. Clark Centre and the medical team of the Acute Monitoring Unit at the Civic Hospital.
