Moyra Frances Gamble (nee Corcoran)
(1920 - 2014)
Of Ottawa, died suddenly on Wednesday, April 9th. Predeceased by spouses Richard B. Logie (1944) and Samuel Gill Gamble (1977) and by her son Samuel Gill Gamble (1964). She will be missed by her children Grace Duncan, Jean Millar, Richard Logie (Susan), Brenda Rogers (David), Andrew Gamble (Gabriela) and Dennis Gamble (Karen); grandchildren Ruth, Helena, and Stephen (Andrade); Andrew and John (Millar); Daniel, Sam, and Carla (Rogers); Sam, Chris and Michelle (Gamble); Gill, Katherine and Brendan (Gamble); and eight great-grandchildren. Moyra will also be missed by her sister, Lorna Hand. Moyra served overseas with the Red Cross during WW2 and was active in the Red Cross Overseas Club producing the newsletter and serving in various administrative roles. She also volunteered at the May Court Convalescent Home and was active both in its management and as a recording secretary. Moyra’s portrait is embedded in the official portrait of the former Governor General Michaelle Jean, painted by Ottawa artist Karen Bailey. She is the lady in pink representing the volunteers of the May Court Bargain Box, where she was a volunteer until 2012. The family would like to thank the staff at the Amica Retirement Home in Westboro for the exceptional and professional care Moyra received during the past two years. A memorial service, to celebrate Moyra’s full and rewarding life, will be announced at a later date. For those wishing to contribute, donations in Moyra’s name to the May Court Club or the Red Cross would be appreciated by the family.
