Mildred Pearl Hunter, July 7, 1928 – March 12, 2020. Passed peacefully, surrounded in the endless love of her devoted family in the quiet afternoon of 12 March 2020, in Ottawa. Beloved wife of Lawrence Hunter (July 11, 1927 – February 17, 2003), treasured and devoted mother of Susan Chartrand (nee Hunter), (December 24, 1949 – March 4, 2018), (Philippe). Cherished and doting grandmother to Nathan (Theodore), Joshua (Kristy), and Jason. Enamored great-grandmother to Alexandra, a precocious 7 year-old. An exceptional, meticulous and trailblazing businesswoman, a world-explorer. Despite having been orphaned at a young age, Mildred (Milly to her friends), once set-free, was unstoppable. She rose quickly through the ranks at Bell Canada becoming one of the first female managers; loved for her sincerity and befriended by many who later became travel companions. Celebrated in retirement, Milly continued with a passion for life. She became a dedicated world explorer, having visited 59 countries between 1982 and 2011; visiting many several times. She loved Hawaii and wintered there many times, she spoiled her grandchildren with gifts upon her return from her many travels. Uncompromising, strong and a true patriarch with a light heart, Milly is mourned by her dedicated family. An exceptional cook, baker and competitive game-player, she spent countless hours with friends and family challenging rules and winning, while delivering unparalleled hospitality, lounging by the pool. She is, and will forever be missed. In memory of Mildred, please consider making a donation to The Alzheimer Society of Canada. Due to the Covid-19 virus, a private memorial service will be held on July 25th, 2020. Condolences, tributes and donations can be made at tubmnafuneralhomes.com
