SABONGUI, Michel Georges
Sabongui, Michel Georges, passed away peacefully, Friday November 11, 2022. He was born in Cairo, Egypt to the late Georges Sabongui and Angel Ghobrial. He studied in Paris, France and became a French teacher and educator. Michel was fluent in three languages. He loved to travel and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1969. Michel was a kind, gentle, sincere, and generous man who was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved to socialize, attend church, and was an expert at backgammon and sudoku.
Beloved husband of the late Nawara Sabongui of 59 years. Dear Father of Mona (Richard), Georges (Cindy) and Lyne (Craig). Cherished grandfather of Emily, Matthew, Sophie, and Sarah. Dear brother of predeceased Aida, predeceased Adly (predeceased Farah), Sami (Suzanne), predeceased Blanche (predeceased Antoine), Madeleine, and Alice (predeceased Joe). Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (Between Baseline and Bayshore Dr) Monday, November 14, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Melkite Catholic Church, 1161 North River Road on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. Interment at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road. In lieu of flowers in memoriam donations to Sts. Peter and Paul Church or St. Vincent’s Hospital would be appreciated.
