Finter, Micheal "Mike"
Realtor (RE/MAX Barrhaven) and retired Canadian Forces (CFB Ottawa South)
The family is sorry to announce that Mike passed away from cancer at his home on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the age of 60. Mike was very proud of his 2 daughters Katherine (James Wiens) and Sarah (Chad Maddex) and their families and they will miss him greatly. He is also remembered by their mother Susanne Johnson and his grandchildren Benjamin, Daniel, Drake and Grace. Mike will be missed by his sister Kathryn (Jim des Rivieres), and brothers Myles Ling (Susan) (Stephanie & Sean) and Rob Ling (Helen), niece Savannah, as well as by his very close aunt and uncle Fran and Jim Burton, many cousins and the rest of the extended family. A heartfelt thank you to Mike's close friend Leslie Windle for her compassionate care in looking after him around the clock throughout his illness, and to Brenda W. (R.N.) who not only was Mike's primary care nurse through Carefor but who also looked after Mike's mother (Marg Ling) during her battle with cancer 5 years ago. Mike's many friends (Sylvie, Ron, Maureen, Silvia and the rest … you know who you are) and his RE/MAX colleagues (Chris Hollands, Susan Coates, et al) have helped him keep his spirits up during his illness and the family thanks each and every one of you for what you did through your visits, cards, e-mails and phone calls. Last, but not least, a big thank you to Dr. McKinnon, Dr. Cross, Dr. Pantarotto and Dr. Goel and the Cancer Centre for helping look after Mike's treatment. Friends may call at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. (between Bayshore and Baseline Rd.), Nepean on Thursday August 6 from 1-3pm and 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Friday August 7 at 11am. Mike, along with his lifelong passion for boating has always been a great contributor to the community, especially CHEO, therefore in his memory and in lieu of flowers, donations to CHEO would be greatly appreciated.
