Mary Young

May 13, 1925 — October 16, 2016

Mary Young was born on Friday the 13th of May 1925, in Buckingham, Quebec. She was the only surviving member of the Young Family. Mary worked in the area and eventually at Hawk Lake where Lesley Biehler became a part of her life and they were married in 1944. Once married and living at the farm, Mary became Post Mistress until the rural post office closed in 1951. Mary was also the Returning Officer for the Provincial and Federal elections. Living in Buckingham, Mary worked as Treasurer and Signing Officer for the Tri-Parish Lutheran Church as well as working at Cabana's Grocery Store, filling phone orders and helping in-store shoppers. In 1972 Mary and Lesley sold the farm and moved to Buckingham to help with Lesley's travel time to MacLaren's Mill.

Mary is survived by 3 sons: Wayne (Jean McDonell), Douglas & Carl (Denise Dorscht) and 1 daughter Dianne. Mary is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. She was predeceased by 2 sisters Rose and Millie and 7 brothers Joe, Charlie, Ben, Bill, Philip, Percy and Norman. Always remembered as "Back on the Farm" and as a 45 + year member of the Legion. We will miss that home made bread.

A very warm thank you to the CLSC staff in Buckingham and to the staff of La Résidence Le Monarque in Montebello who helped Mother in her final hours.

Come join us for a Celebration of her Life on Monday, October 31, 2016 from 11 am to 3 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion, 176 Joseph Street in Buckingham.
