MILLS, Mary Elizabeth “Meriel” - It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Mary Elizabeth Meriel Mills, our beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, at the age of 86 years. She was born April 15th, 1936, in Llanelli, South Wales to Joseph Lynn and Peggy Morgan. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years Don Mills (2003).

A dedicated teacher, she was always helping the children around her. Whether formally in the classroom, in her sponsorship of technology resources at the local elementary school, or simply in offering guidance and wisdom, she always cared. And she was without a doubt, the biggest supporter of her eleven grandchildren as they grew up. An avid bridge player, a lover of travel, a proud member of the CFUW and an enthusiastic supporter of the Ottawa Welsh Society, she will be sorely missed by her many friends and extended family.

Known as Auntie Meriel to many, she exemplified kindness and generosity throughout her life and always set a place at the dinner table for those who needed a home. She is survived by her three daughters Sian, Rhian (Scott) and Delyth (Dave) and her doting grandchildren Karl, Haleigh, Ariana, Trevor, Steffan, Isabel, Tegan, Bryn, Coel, Nia, and Grace. Also left to mourn are Dinah Gabay and Criselda Soliman her dedicated and loving caregivers. Gorffwys mewn heddwych Mam. Wr caru chi. Rest in peace Mom. We love you.

Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean (between Bayshore & Baseline) from 6 - 8 pm on Thursday, February 2nd. A memorial service will take place at the Kanata United Church, 33 Leacock Drive, Kanata on February 3rd at 2 pm. Reception to follow at the Brookstreet Hotel, 525 Legget Drive, Kanata.
