Mary Louise Geekie

Our dear mother Mary Louise Geekie (nee Steele) passed away peacefully on June 26, 2023, after a long full life, leaving a legacy of unconditional love and the true meaning of family.

She was born in 1932 in Simcoe, Ontario to Walter and Mary Steele. While at Saltfleet High School, she met the love of her life, Douglas Albert Geekie. They shared a wonderful life together with her only regret being that it ended too soon with his passing almost 30 years ago.

She was a wonderful and giving mother to her three daughters, Susan Aubin (Marcel), Shari Geekie (Steve Knight), and Shawn Moreau. She was proud of her grandchildren, Christopher McCann-Aubin (Leslie), Nikki Moreau (Yanek Lewkowicz-Lalonde), Desmond Knight (Brittany Jordan), Lee Moreau (Vanessa Davidson), and step-granddaughter Emily Knight. The newest members of the family, her great-granddaughter Blake McCann and great-grandson Rhett McCann brought a smile to her face every time she looked at their photographs.

She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by her sister, Anne Kowal (Bill), and sister-in-law, Peggy Geekie (Jim, predeceased), nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 Friday, June 30, 2023, at Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa, followed by a private burial at St. John’s Anglican Church in South March (north Kanata) where she will once again be with her beloved Doug.
