Marion Tatz

May 26, 1937 — March 31, 2014

Marion Eileen Landry

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our Marion, nee Tatz, who succumbed to a severe stroke on March 31, 2014. Beloved wife of Peter (Pierre), Marion was born in 1937 in Ottawa to Eileen (nee Powis) and Alfred Tatz, sister to Patricia (Dick Cowper); wonderful mother to Kimberley MacDonald (Mike Pitre) and Michael MacDonald (Evelyn); dear grandmother (Muzzie) to Phillip and Jennifer, great grandmother to Keegan, step mom to Isabeau and Jean Michel, dear aunt to Jackie and many nieces and nephews. Marion graduated from St. Pat’s with a Bachelor of Education, and began her career teaching in the Ottawa area. She continued her studies for her Masters Degree while working full time and raising her children. Marion taught all grades, specialized as a librarian and music instructor, but her favourite job was teaching the little ones in kindergarten, which she did for many years. Marion was also actively involved in musical theatre, including Orpheus, where she met husband Peter, and in the R.A. Theatrical Society. Peter and Marion performed in dozens of shows over the years. They also enjoyed R.V.’ing and developed many friendships through their travels. Marion retired from teaching in 1993. She continued her part time Avon business and it thrived until she deservedly retired in 2013. To her clients she was not just the Avon lady, but their good friend. She has remained extremely active, bowling several times a week, visiting Lac Leamy for mini vacations, traveling with her daughter, playing cards and dining out with great friends, and spending time with her beloved family. Her kindness, effervescence and contagious laughter will forever warm our hearts and bring a smile to our lips. A private funeral for family and close friends will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd. on Thursday, April 3 at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be held at her home at 16 Forest Heights, Stittsville, on Saturday, April 12 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. All are welcome to share in this gathering of love. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ottawa Humane Society.
