Germaine Peters

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Marie Germaine Peters (nee Lavoie) passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024, at the age of 89.She is survived by her daughters Kim (Harry) and Jill (Paul) and her cherished grandsons Mason and Gage. She was predeceased by her loving husband Larry and her daughter Lynn.

Germaine and Larry married at a young age and travelled far and wide with the Canadian Armed Forces. They made many friends on their adventures throughout Canada and Europe, always enjoying the festivities. Even though Larry was a foot taller they were the perfect dance couple, they were our Fred and Ginger. 

Germaine was always up for a day at the beach. She was such a brilliant card player she would sometimes cheat to lose! She was a beautiful seamstress and made the best apple pie on the planet, rivalled only by her tourtiere.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone at Billings Lodge and to her good friends Sharan and Melissa for filling her last years with much joy and laughter.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service and celebration of her life will take place at noon, on August 3rd, 2024, at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa (at Roosevelt), the family ask that those attending RSVP by visiting Germaine's tribute page at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com (please scroll below) and bring their favourite Germaine story to share. 

In lieu of flowers, donate to your favorite charity, eat pie with a friend, enjoy a martini, have a day at the beach, or commit a random act of kindness.
