Madeleine Honeyman

January 6, 1913 — June 1, 2014

Passed away peacefully on June 1, 2014, at the Ottawa General Hospital, in her 102nd year. Madeleine was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Honeyman. Mother of Anne Marie Cardinal (Oliver) of Perth and Amelie Smith (Garry) of Ottawa. Her grandchildren are Peter Cardinal of Ottawa and Catherine Livingston (Ted) of Belleville. Great- grandchildren, Curtis Livingston of Ottawa and Dawson Livingston of Belleville. Survived by her sister Pauline Weidmark (the late Grant) and her nephews Christopher Weidmark and Robert Kenney. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy Armand (the late Michael) and Marie Kenney (the late Hamilton).
Madeleine was the recipient of The Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship and The Queen's Jubilee Award, both in recognition of her work with the Alzheimer sufferers, their families and caregivers. She served as volunteer, co-founder and President of The Ottawa Alzheimer Society and volunteer, co-founder and Vice President of The Ontario Alzheimer Society. She travelled as far away as Australia, lecturing on Seniors, Aging and Alzheimer disease. She is also remembered for her career in teaching and her work as a Guidance Counselor for The Ottawa Secondary School Board.
Friends may call at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road (at Roosevelt) on Friday, June 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service in the chapel at 11 a.m. Please wear a hat. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to The Abbotsford Senior Centre.
