Léo-Paul Tremblay

Passed away quietly at CSLD Montfort, on July 18, 2015 at the age of 97. Son of the late Napoléon Tremblay and the late Alice Alain, both of Québec City, and husband of the late Iris Lorraine Hillis of Toronto (for 35 years) and to the late Marie-Jeanne Mayrand of Gracefield, Québec (for 22 years) and brother of the late Reverend Alphonse of Saint-Augustin, Québec. He will be remembered by his brother Raymond (Capucin) of Lac Bouchette, Québec, his two sisters Alice (late Paul Carbonneau) of Toronto and Thérèse of Québec. He will also be remembered by his four surviving children Jean-Pierre (Martha Clarke) of Okotoks Alberta, Paul Alain (Beata Wolosewicz) of Ottawa, Roslyn Janet (Tony Sydney Oliver) of Ottawa, Charles Nicholas (Marie-Josée Claveau) of Calgary, and his eleven grandchildren Émil Tremblay of Leduc, Alberta, Tara Tremblay of Edmonton, Pascal, Kristin and Patricia Tremblay of Ottawa, Paul Tremblay of New Jersey, Chantale Oliver of Arnprior, Ontario, Gabriel Tremblay of Edmonton, Charles, Catherine and Anne-Marie Tremblay of Calgary and many cousins, nephews and nieces in Québec and Ontario. He is predeceased by his daughter Patricia Lorraine (Stuart Archibald).
His career with the Geological Survey of Canada was rewarding and has spanned a period of 35 years studying gold and uranium deposits in precambrian rocks of Northern Saskatchewan, North-West Territories and North-Western Québec. Results of his work are summarized in books and numerous scientific papers.
Enjoying life at his cottage and visiting many parts of the world were years of enjoyment during his retirement of over 30 years.
There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held at the Saint-Thomas d’Aquin Catholic Church, 1244 Kilborn Place, Ottawa, Ontario, K1H 6L1 on Tuesday July 28, 2015 at 11 AM followed by a reception. There will be a private interment at the Hope Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers to the Montfort Hospital Foundation, Ottawa would be appreciated.
As it is said by many: "the sun may be obstructed by clouds, eclipsed by the moon or relegated to the dark side of the earth, but it always rises to shine again – this is what you should remember when life is not always as you hope it to be. It will always be there to help because God will always be there to welcome you."
