Lloyd Wright

Lloyd passed away peacefully at the Perley Rideau Veteran’s Health Centre, on November 8, 2017. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jean (Tait) Wright. Lloyd was predeceased by his former wife Elma Johnston. He is also survived by his sons Murray and Meredith and his wife Anna Elberg Wright and their children Erik and Ella. Lloyd was born in the United Church manse in Shanly, Ontario. He graduated from McGill University and after serving in WWII , he went to the Ontario College of Education. After living in Cornwall and Woodstock, Lloyd moved to Ottawa in 1956 to teach at Central Technical school. When Laurentian High School opened in 1958, Lloyd transferred there and taught science until his retirement in 1986. In addition to his teaching career, he was involved in the building of the City View United Church hall and sanctuary during the 1960s and 1970s. He was elected four times to the Carleton Board of Education. Lloyd’s father, Rev. William Wright built a cottage on the St. Lawrence Ri ver in 1925. Lloyd and his sons have enjoyed summer life at Blakey’s Point for 92 years.

A funeral will be held on November 13, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the City View United Church, 6 Epworth Ave, Nepean, ON. Visitation will take place in the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. A reception will be held in the church hall followed by the burial at Capital Memorial Garden Cemetery.
