SWITZER, Lloyd “Butch”

April 27, 1942 – February 2, 2018

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd "Butch” Switzer, son of the late Ernest and Emma (nee Flood) Switzer. Dearly beloved husband and best friend of Lorna (nee Seabrook). Much loved and cherished father, coach and mentor of Derek (Anika) and Daryl (Kimberly) Adored Papa and Opa of his much loved grandchildren: Austin, Amber, Joel, Jaden and Jaimee. Much loved brother of Bruce Switzer (late Mildred), Keith Switzer (late Barbara), Marion Armstrong (late John), and Brian Switzer (Wendy); and brother-in-law of Ron Seabrook (Maureen) and Jim Seabrook (late Judy). He was predeceased by sisters Lois Kane (late Everett Moore and late Walter Kane) and Beryl Cumming (late Arthur Hopewell and late Gordon Cumming); brother Doug and sister-in-law Betty Switzer. A special uncle, he will be truly missed by his many Switzer, Armstrong, Hopewell, Moore and Seabrook nieces and nephews. Butch (Lloyd) had a passion for hockey, coaching his sons, grandchildren and many talented young hockey players as coach of many teams including: the Ottawa Valley Titans; Ottawa Junior Senators; Upper Canada Cyclones; Nepean Raiders; Kanata Blazers; and other area teams. “Butch (Lloyd) was always there to nurture, guide and love us. A spiritual man of deep faith which he rejoiced in sharing with others, the family is comforted in knowing that he is now safely in the arms of Jesus." Our family thanks the many caring doctors, nurses and support staff at the Ottawa Heart Institute who cared for Butch over these past days. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Cedarview Alliance Church at 2784 Cedarview Road, Nepean, on Monday February 12th, 2018, at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memoriam donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Condolences, tributes or donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com
