Louis Joseph Kenneth Papineau

November 29,1944 – October 18,2016

Peacefully at Granite Ridge Long Term Care Facility Ottawa Ontario on Tuesday October 18,2016 in his 72nd year. Predeceased by his parents Louis Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Strang) Papineau. Ken was the last Louis Joseph descended from Louis Joseph1 who built the present Papineau Manor House in 1850 located at Montebello Quebec which is now owned by Parks Canada. While living in Perth, Ontario, Ken was Vice President of the Smiths Falls Railway Museum Board of Directors. At that time, in the 80’s and early 90’s, the old station and cars were being renovated by many volunteers and opened to the public for tours. Today, the museum attracts many visitors from many places. Ken resided at Granite Ridge for 11 years where he received excellent care after suffering 2 strokes that resulted in severe complications. Grateful thanks to all his caregivers in Heritage House and in Orchard House where he spent his last 3 months. Special thanks to Karen who always checked in on Ken no matter which floor she was working on. Private burial at the Papineau Chapel located on the grounds of the Papineau Manor House. This family chapel was built in 1853 by Louis Joseph1 and his son. Ken will now rest there with many of his ancestors. Ken would want any donations in his memory be made to the Ottawa Humane Society. Condolences, tributes or donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com.
