May 8, 1935 – March 31, 2021
Peacefully, with family by his side, Leo passed away at The Grove Nursing Home, Arnprior, on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Mary (nee Burns) Colton, and his brothers Burns and Jim (late Cecile). Dearly loved brother of Maryalice Nugent (late Wilfred), Frank (Helen), Sarah Woodley (Robert), Frances Presley (late Raymond), George (Shirley Dawn), Clare Brooking (Roger), Owen (Marilyn), and Martha. A kind and gentle man, Leo will also be remembered by his many nieces, nephews, good friends and their families.
Leo worked at the former Rideau Aluminum, Ottawa, for 20 years, but he was a true farmer at heart. He was the third generation owner of the Colton homestead, land he farmed until May 2017, and a home where family and friends were always welcome.
Leo was happiest when hosting family celebrations at “The Farm,” his beloved dog Roxy at his side. He also enjoyed curling, dancing, golf, four-wheeling, hunting at Highland Creek Hunt Club, and the annual St Patrick’s Day euchre party. A man of few words, his smile said it all.
The Colton family wishes to extend sincere thanks to dear friends Chris and Denise Nolan, and to the exceptional staff at The Grove Nursing Home, for their kindness, compassion and loving care.
A private funeral will be celebrated at St Peter Celestine Church, Pakenham. Burial to follow at St Peter Celestine Parish Cemetery, Indian Hill Road, Pakenham. Final arrangements entrusted to Tubman Funeral Homes. In memory of Leo please consider a donation to St Peter Celestine Parish Cemetery or to The Grove Nursing Home.
