Passed away peacefully at Stillwater Creek retirement home on Saturday, April 16, 2016 with family by her side. Laura was in her 89th year. Loving mother of Michael (Laura) and Gordon (Linda) and much beloved grandmother to Steven, Tracey, James and Gavin. Laura was born in Porcupine, Ontario and lived a long and happy life, with her last 40 years in Bell’s Corners, Ottawa. Laura was predeceased by her husband Murray and is survived by her sister Carmel and brother Armand. With Murray’s military career, they traveled and lived in many places including several Canadian cities, England and the United States. Laura began her career as a registered nurse and switched into retail working at Brill’s and Outskirts in Ottawa where she enjoyed her many friends and colleagues. She was an active member of the Catholic Women's League as well as enjoyed her golf life at Cedarhill Golf Club. Laura was deeply loved and respected by all who came to know her. She lived to see her boys and family become successful and happy individuals which gave her the greatest joy. She loved all her visitors and outings when she was less able to travel and savored all cards and her memories. Special thanks to Heather and all her caregivers from Comfort Keepers in Nepean who loved her and laughed with her and to all the staff at Stillwater Creek Retirement Community who have supported Laura and all the family over the last several years. Her sons will miss her tremendously and know she will always be looking down praying for us all. We will keep eating her meatballs and apple pie and thinking of her and Murray together again.
